Terms of Use
These terms govern the use of VIDA RPG on Android and iOS. By installing or using the app you accept them. They are written in plain language on purpose: the important part is section 4.
1. What VIDA RPG is
VIDA RPG is a gamified personal-organisation tool. It turns your habits, vices, missions and goals into video-game mechanics: health points, experience, levels, a virtual currency called "suns", streaks, milestones, mentors and an optional AI Coach. Its purpose is to help you organise yourself and stay motivated, nothing more.
The rank compares what you log in the app with a reference model built from public statistics and with a scale of profiles set by the game. It does not measure your personal worth, your income or your health, and it is not information about other people.
2. Permitted use
- You may install and use the app on devices you control, for your personal use.
- You may not copy, modify, decompile, redistribute or sell the app or parts of it, or present it as your own.
- You may not use the app for unlawful purposes or try to bypass its technical limits, such as those of the AI Coach.
- You are responsible for what you write inside the app and for the game files you export.
3. Intellectual property
The software, design, texts, missions, mentor lessons, graphics, music and all other content of VIDA RPG belong to the developer, Alex Vida, and are protected by intellectual property law. You are granted a personal, limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app in accordance with these terms. What you write in the app (names, goals, texts, golden card) is yours and stays on your device.
The mentors section presents personal-development principles explained in the developer's own words, with conceptual attribution to the authors they are associated with. It does not reproduce literal quotations from protected works. The only direct quotations are from classical authors in the public domain (Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus and Seneca), with the work indicated.
4. Important notice: this is not professional advice
VIDA RPG is a gamified personal-organisation tool. It does not constitute medical, nutritional, psychological or financial advice, and it does not replace any professional.
The rates of bodily change the app shows and the goal feasibility estimates it calculates are general guidance based on generic figures. They are not professional recommendations and do not take your particular situation into account.
Consult a qualified professional before starting any physical-change plan, diet or exercise programme, and before making financial decisions. If you have a physical or mental health problem, see a healthcare professional.
The AI Coach's suggestions are generated by an artificial-intelligence model and may be inaccurate or unsuitable for you. Treat them as ideas to weigh up, never as instructions.
5. No guarantee of results
The app is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that you will achieve any goal, or any physical, financial or personal change, or that the app is free of errors or available at all times. The game mechanics (health, character death, penalties, streaks, records) are a motivational device, not an assessment of your worth or your health. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app.
6. Your data
The app has no accounts and stores everything on your device. How this works, and what the AI Coach, rewarded ads and the PRO subscription do, is explained in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. PRO subscription, challenge programmes and query credits
The download is free and includes the complete game. The app offers an optional subscription, PRO (monthly or yearly; the yearly one with a seven-day free trial), and six challenge programmes that can also be bought individually as a one-off purchase. Full prices are shown before you buy, in your store's currency. Purchase, billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled through Google Play (or the App Store on iPhone) and governed by that store's terms; purchases are validated by RevenueCat, as described in the Privacy Policy. The developer does not receive or keep your payment method. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it from the store; you keep PRO until the end of the period already paid for. Suns cannot be bought with real money; cosmetics are not sold individually either (a few exclusive ones come with PRO or at the end of a programme), and neither has any value outside the app. Since 2.16.0 query credits can also be bought, on the terms in section 8.
8. Query credits
Since version 2.16.0 you can buy, if you want to, query credits, in packs of 5 and 20, through Google Play. A credit does the same as a rewarded ad, without watching it: one more AI Coach query, a new Feat from the third on or, since 2.17.0, one more encounter in the adventure. In the adventure it also pays the fare for a journey: one credit for every 500 suns or part thereof. Credits are not in-game currency: they are not earned by playing, give no EXP or suns, do not turn into suns, have no value outside the app and cannot be passed to anyone else. The balance is capped at 100 credits and is kept on the Coach server with an anonymous identifier, as explained in the Privacy Policy. They are not sold in Russia. Since 2.17.0, a credit can also unlock a piece of the original soundtrack (four pieces, one credit each): it stays unlocked in your credit account (the balance kept on the Coach's server) and comes back with "Recover my credits"; it is lost if that account is deleted or goes 24 months without activity.
Before you pay, the app asks for two express consents, and without them you cannot buy: that you want the Coach to answer immediately, without waiting for the 14-day withdrawal period to end, and that you understand that, once the query has been provided, you lose your right of withdrawal (Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; Articles 103(m) and 98(7) of the Spanish consolidated consumer protection law, TRLGDCU). After the purchase, the app gives you a receipt with the date, the product, the final price including VAT, the order number and the consent you gave; you will find it in Settings → Query credits.
Refund of unspent credits. Credits you have not spent can be refunded within 14 days of the purchase. Queries already made cannot be refunded, because they were provided with your consent. To request it, write to vidarpgapp@gmail.com with the order number from your receipt. The amount for the unspent credits is refunded through Google Play and those credits are removed from your balance. Google Play also handles refunds within 48 hours of the purchase, from your order history.
Recovering the balance and retention. If you reinstall the app, you can recover the credits you have not spent in Settings → Query credits → "Recover my credits", with the Google Play order number shown on your receipt; each order can be used for a recovery only once. Unspent credits that remain on the Coach server are deleted after 24 months without activity (no purchases, no credits spent and no recoveries), or earlier if you ask for their deletion, and in both cases they are lost. The details are in the Privacy Policy. Since 2.17.0, soundtrack pieces unlocked with credits follow the balance: they come back with it when you recover it and are lost with it when it is deleted.
9. AI Coach
The AI Coach is optional and runs on a developer server on Cloudflare, which queries an open language model through Workers AI (since 2.16.0, Gemma, by Google, run by Cloudflare and not by Google), with the limitations described in the Privacy Policy. You can switch it off completely from Settings. It has a query limit that depends on your plan (without paying, two a month; with PRO, one a day; each extra query, with a voluntary rewarded ad or a query credit) and that may change in future versions. It runs on a free daily quota shared by the whole community: if it runs out on a given day, the coach will not be available until the next day, and neither the query nor the credit is counted against you.
10. Rewarded ads
Since version 2.15.0 the app shows rewarded ads from Google AdMob only when you ask to watch one, in three places: for an extra AI Coach query, to open a new Feat from the third on without PRO (at most one a week) and, since 2.17.0, for one more encounter in the adventure once the new encounters available have been used up (at most two a day). An ad gives no EXP or suns. If you close the ad before it finishes, there is no reward. Whether ads are available depends on Google and on your region (there are none in Russia), and there may be none at a given moment; PRO does not need them. In all three places a query credit can be used instead of the ad (section 8).
11. Changes to the app and to these terms
The app may be updated, and some game mechanics or figures may change between versions. These terms may be updated too; the current version is always the one published at this address, with its date. Significant changes will be indicated in the app.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.
